Chef Joey Maggiore

Chef. Restaurateur. Entertainer. Host of the longest-running dinner party in Arizona

Chef Joey & Chef Tomaso

It runs in the family.

Chef Joey Maggiore was raised in a restaurant. He learned the business at his father's side — the late, legendary Tomaso Maggiore — and grew up understanding that a great meal was never really about the food alone. It was about the room, the welcome, the people you shared the table with. Today, Joey carries that lesson into every concept he creates: restaurants with bold flavor, big personality, and hospitality that feels like coming home.

It started with
Chef Tomaso

Tomaso arrives in America with little, opens Tomaso's Italian Restaurant (1977, Camelback Corridor), and builds it into an Arizona institution and a family of restaurants. The "why" behind everything Joey does.

From his father's kitchen to his own.

Joey earns his stripes in Tomaso's kitchen, then begins building his own — Hash Kitchen and the concepts that followed — establishing himself as a creator of experiences, not just restaurants, leading to today's family: The Italiano, The Mexicano, The Delicatessen.

The Maggiore way

Joey believes a restaurant should give you more than dinner. It should give you a night you'll talk about. Honor the tradition, then turn up the experience. Be generous — with portions, with hospitality, with personality. And treat every guest like family, because the moment they walk in, they are. It's a philosophy he learned at his father's table and redefines with every new concept.

More than a chef

Joey beyond the kitchen — national TV (Food Network, Travel Channel, his own Food Network show Family Style), press features, the cookbook, and a fast-growing Instagram community.
